JEFFAMINE T-5000

Huntsman CorporationNE amines are quality general purpose curing agents for epoxy resins. Epoxy systems based on lower molecular weight members of the family (D-230, D-400, and T-403) are used in many applications. Epoxy systems based on these amines have low viscosity, good mechanical properties, and reduced brittleness .The higher molecular weight members of the family have uses in adhesives as well.

JEFFAMINE T-5000 is a 5000 molecular weight polyoxypropylene triamine that can be added to a variety of curing agents to impart flexibility and improve peel strength of the adhesive systems with little degradation in other properties.

In formulations based on JEFFAMINE D-230 or JEFFAMINE T-403, increasing the concentration of T-5000 increases both tensile shear strength and T-peel strength. In particular, T-peel strength can increase by a factor of 5-10. These systems may be cured at elevated temperatures, or at ambient temperatures with an accelerator such as the company's Accelerator 399.
